Just in case you missed something:
Puppets Up in Almonte, Ontario
Shadow Puppet Theatre attended Almonte’s annual International puppet festival, Puppets Up and, as usual, there was some amazing talent on display.
There was a truly incredible group from France this year that performed a Punch and Judy-esk routine. Their comic timing was brilliant—and I know how hard comic timing is when you’re crouched down behind a small theatre! We also got to show off some of our puppets in the puppet parade and to talk to some puppeteers about that thing we do (always a highlight at these events.)
Shadow Puppet Theatre just came back from Arts squared in Uptown Waterloo, ON. We met lots of great people and sold some of our handcrafted puppets. We also gave zombie marionette lessons and shadow puppet demonstrations. We had a lot of fun!
Woodstock with Kid 2 Kid
We did a great workshop as well as designed a neat set of Turney Puppets for Kid 2 Kid productions in Woodstock Ontario. Our shadow puppets we’re featured in their spring production of Beauty and the Beast.
The Town Musicians of Bremen
Check out the Town Musicians of Bremen on YouTube. We were lucky enough to join with Earl Mcluskie, Ted Follows and some talented musicians for a production of The Town Musicians of Bremen this past year at the Jazz Room in Waterloo (incidentally, this has become my new favourite performance space. Hoping we can work there again.)
