Macbeth

2006

In June of 2005, we were approached by a troupe of
Shadow Puppets. They were looking for some humans to help
them mount a production of Macbeth for a homo sapiens
audience. We approached the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund
and received a grant on their behalf and the result was
Macbeth.

The Shadow Puppets were particularly interested in
mounting Macbeth for a human audience because of some
concerns they have about the human race.. Because Macbeth
shows Man’s place within the world and the effects human
actions have on the surroundings, the shadow puppets thought it
would be a good play to mount.

We agreed

We felt that the Shadow Puppets would be really good at portraying the ghosts and witches and other supernatural elements that make Macbeth so spooky.

They agreed.

And so we performed Macbeth for audiences in both waterloo region and in Cannamore Orchard in Crysler Ontario and the partnership between shadow puppets and humans was cemented.

Fall Fling

September 2007

Part of Shadow Puppet Theatre’s mandate is to
support the local charities. It is a mandate that hit
home when Shadow Puppet Theatre’s Mat F. Kelly
learned that a close friend had been diagnosed with
Multiple Sclerosis.

In September of 2006, Shadow Puppet
Theatre’s co-producer Mat. Kelly produced the gala
production Fall Fling in support of the MS society of
Canada.

For the event, Shadow Puppet Theatre
produced a new work based on the Grimm fairy tale The
Moon
. The gala also featured a number of other
performers from the local community of Winchester
Ontario and a silent auction. The event raised $2000.00 in
support of the MS Society of Canada.
